Jevons Capital Group Inc.
Introduction to Jevons
- Jevons
is a private company incorporated in 2010 to acquire or place equity
investments
in small
to medium-sized private companies in Ontario ("target companies") that
occupy valid marketplace niches in the meat processing sector.
-
Jevons entered the meat processing space by acquiring Heidelberg Foods
Ltd. in St. Jacobs, Ontario (www.heidelbergfoods.com). The CFIA
approved facility had already
established itself as a producer of premium shelf stable European style
meats with a growing presence in finer grocery stores and delis across
Ontario. After undertaking a program of expansion and state-of-the-art
improvements to the St. Jacobs facility, Jevons made further
investments in the processed meat platform by acquiring a 40,000 sq ft
cold storage facility in Kitchener, Ontario and adding future capacity
in Paris, Ontario.
-
Typical equity investments by Jevons would be in the $3-$15 million
range, although smaller or larger investments may be
warranted under special circumstances.
- The
primary expertise of Jevons’ staff lies with the operation and
development of businesses. Our staff or independent contractors have
experience in retailing,
wholesaling, warehousing, trucking and distribution logistics,
marketing, franchising, private label development, inventory control
systems, purchasing logistics, business mergers and acquisitions,
litigation management, regulatory compliances, banking
relationships, risk management, security/loss prevention, computer
technologies, human relations, turnarounds, selection of and interface
with third party consultants, corporate planning, and general business
strategy.
- Jevons’
founder, Geoffrey Holt, previously founded Pet Valu, Inc. and was its
CEO and a member of its Board of Directors for over thirty years.
Through innovative procurement strategies, inventory management
technologies and private label programs, successful franchising and
acquisition programs, research backed marketing strategies, and
advanced business planning models, he expanded Pet Valu from one store
to a company with over 350 stores making it North America’s largest
small box retail pet food and supply chain. Pet Valu, Inc. was sold to
an Atlanta-based investment firm in late 2009.
- Jevons
Capital Group Inc. takes its name from the 19th century English
economist William Stanley Jevons who was a founder of the
marginalist school of economic theory and a proponent of the
utilitarian theory of value.
